aTV Flash (black) 2.0

We are pleased to announce the release aTV Flash (black) 2.0 for the 2nd generation Apple TV. Version 2.0 goes beyond just watching videos, and adds in a ton of new features that make browsing and watching media on the Apple TV more enjoyable than ever.

2.0 is a free update for all current aTV Flash (black) users, so keep reading for more details on everything that's new.

Browse by category

The new Library View will now index all your media (even if stored on multiple devices) and automatically organize movies, TV shows and music into easy to use categories such as: genre, release date, star rating, age rating and others. TV shows will also be group by series/season automatically so there's no more worrying about keeping your folders perfectly organized.

While we think this is a great new way to browse and enjoy your media, the original file/folder based browsing will remain intact and working as an alternative option.

Fully integrated search

Sometimes you know what you want to watch, and don't want to browse. With our new integrated search you can do just that. This powerful search tool allows you to search by movie, TV series/episode, song, artist, album or filename. Just start typing and the results will start being displayed instantly.

Keep it all in sync

Also new for 2.0 is trakt.tv syncing. This is a great feature if you're trying to keep multiple Apple TVs in sync, as if you watch a movie on the first device it will also appear as watched on the 2nd. Additionally, if you manually mark a movie or show as watched on trakt.tv, it will automatically get marked as watched on the Apple TV. In a similar fashion, Last.fm scrobbling allows you track music plays in your Last.fm profile.

Not yet. Work is still ongoing and we'll be sure to announce any and all news as soon as it becomes available. Be sure to follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Google+ for up to the minute info.

Outstanding! Where can I get it?

aTV Flash (black) is available for purchase and instant download here.

If you're already running a version of aTV Flash (black) you can update right on the Apple TV through the Maintenance --> Manage Extras menu. The new 2.0 version is also available through the Downloads tab in your account.

Full details on setting up and using the new Library View can be found here.

Note: Apple TV version 4.4 or later is required for aTV Flash (black) 2.0.

Enjoy! :-)

It's going to be longer.

Is someone having trouble with média player??

With this new version, when I watch a movie, sometimes I got a "load memory" which stutter the movie.
But it's not one time, but every 30 seconds for some movies...

Furthermore, in a few movies I don't have any sound while the video is running.
In the previous version, I haven't this problem.

Can I get back to an older version or have you a solution?

Thx

.

I just updated my aTV to version 5.1 (5201)

Can I still jailbreak my aTV using seas0npass? (untethered)

Is Navi x working for anyone after the upgrade??

Go to maintenance under 3rd party add on's the first one Air Control (BETA) click right on your apple remote and hit remove. If it doe not allow you scroll over to the next screen and all the way at the bottom there is a button that say relaunch Apple TV. This will clear your cache and go back in and repeat the removal steps of Air Control (BETA).

There is a compatibility issue right now but it will give you your Navi-X back.

Thanks,

Exoon The Future of The Web.,

With The ATV Flash (black) It seams to have some compatibility issues as I did the ssh way and navi-x works fine and even after I install ATV Flash (black) it is one of the extras that ATV Flash (black) provides that makes it so Navi-X no longer works.

I hope they get that fixed would rather have my Navi-X working then all this other stuff.

Can some one or admin look into this?

Exoon The Future of The Web.,

I tried installing Plex - it comes with a fault ever time I try to install it.

Can you tell me why?

I have used v2.o since it got released, and it is the best version ever :)

Can't wait for the Trailer option :)

Today Apple upgrade the firmware. If I have not yet upgrade to the latest firmware, and if I've found a downloadable copy of 5.0.2 firmware, will I be able to jailbreak with SeasOnPass? Will I be able to point the program to location of the firmware or will it just automatically download the latest? Thanks

Option-click on the Create IPSW button and dialog box allows you to choose whichever local firmware file to use.

Apple has updated the firmware today. Can I do this update without losing my jailbreak and ATV Flash ?

I updated 2 of my AppleTv's Gen2 and they are fine. You need to Restore them so that it will reset everything and they can be updated (either in the menus "Update Software" or pluging it into your computer and running a "Restore"). After that you run the SeasonPass and, finally, the aTV Flash 2.0.

It all work fine and (re)jailbreaks the AppleTv.

Still lovin' V2.0
Keep on to spend time to make brilliant apps for AppleTV ...
Regarding teh Movie UP which wasn't detected bythe danish guy.
I also had the sameProblem with my NAS but after a couple of times of refreshment it finally works fine.
Don't know what TMDb is still finding all the time ...
Hope you also find a way to jailbreak AppleTV3 and make aTV also available.

Cheers
Astaroth

Error while installing MEDIA PLAYER

Com.firecore.media: Depends: com.firecore.libafpclient (>= 1.3-65) but it is not going to be installed.

That's the error from the log.
Can I install the dependency manually thru terminal?

Thanks.

Was Seas0nPass used to jailbreak the Apple TV or something else?

Any update on whether we can upgrade, re-jailbreak?

Thanks,

I used Seas0nPass

After the 2.0 update navi x no longer works I uninstalled ATV black and rejail broke Apple TV 2 and now navi x works fine

I tried to uninstall and re jail broke.... Did it 4 times... Cannot get Navi to work at all??!! What am I missing here?

You need uninstall air beta and navi x will work

Actually, I'm really enjoying the Plex integration. It's the best performance I've seen yet on a set-top box of any kind.

Is there a way to downgrade from 2.0 to the previous version? Since the update, I can't stream content from Netflix, Hulu, iTunes Festival... and none of my shows are being marked as watched.

Since the 2.0 update, My Atv no longer remembers where I left off in a video... Upon returning to the menu, the blue semi-circle changes back to full. Anyone else with this issue?

Hi, I just uploaded by MAc to a MAc Book Pro with Retina display (basically the pricest MAc Book They sell). On my apple Tv, under the media, it still shows my old mac. Can you give me some idea of how to go about switching everything to my new Mac Book Pro Retina? I've been watching things with the "airplay" feature, but it locks up literally every 20 seconds and makes it basically not worth watching it on my normal TV. Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi guys. Hope you can help with a duplication problem.

I'd like to share a few movies from my Windows 7 laptop which after a bit of faffing I have managed to set up:
Name: the ip address of the laptop
Server: the name of the laptop
Username/password: disabled

All fine, except that the metadata collected has duplicated all the entries. Instead of 12 movies, I have 24. How do I fix this one? Any ideas?

Cheers

There a issue with hdd connected to airport extreme in this version. The hdd is disconected many times. Any solution?

I have tried but I think I have failed to upgrade to 2.0.

I bought my Apple TV in the beginning of January 2012. The Apple TV-software is 4.4.4 (3300) accordning to the "about" page. The "about" under Maintenance says I am running aTV Flash (black) 2.0. There is no problem with running the Apple TV, everything is in order. The problem is that I'm still seeing the old interface (not this interface: http://www.apple.com/appletv/).

Do any of you have any suggestions on what to do?

Thank you very much

/C

You need to update your atv2 to the latest firmware. Best bet is to download the latest seas0npass and let it work it's magic. Then reinstall atv flash and your good to go with the new interface.

First of all thanks for this amazing update.
I have been struggling with a couple of movies though. They keep ending up in the "other" category.

Mostly movies that include quotes (') like Boundin' (Pixar short movie)

Also is there a way of viewing music by album? I can't seem to find it.

I have a dumb question.

After install under maintenance it says version: 1.7 - 0949 SHouldn't it say 2.0?

On the "Media 101 - Basic Setup"
=================================================================================
Step 2: Select the share(s) you wish to be included in the Library.

Note: To add a specific folder to the Library (instead of an entire share) you can setup a new share using the direct path to a folder by entering the folder path after the device name. E.G. MyNas.local\Files\Movies
=================================================================================

But how can I enter the folder path ? Only the entire share (Root folder of NAS disk) can be selected.
Basically I would like to add only specific sub folders to the Library not the whole disk.

your must enter "/" instead of "\"

Cool Stuff James and co. is making :)

I have a problem.. I added the movie UP to my NAS. I Called the movie OP because thar is the name
Of the movie in Danish. Media player found a meta tag Called Sintel. I renamed the movie to UP on the nas, and Them the media found the correct cover and meta. But the sintel still apear on the media player.

What to do?

A library re-scan should clear this up.

I Tried but i do not Work :(

James, I absolutely LOVE the new Library! Cool Quick question...

My current View in Media with the New Library TV Shows as favorite looks like this:

| Movies | TV Folder | TV Shows | My Files | Library | Search | Settings |

If I remove the (TV Folder) from Favorites, then (TV Shows) Favorite displays nothing.

So I'm stuck with 2 Favorites (TV Folder & TV Shows) for it to work properly.

Is there any way to keep (TV Folder) HIDDEN as a source to SHOW ONLY (TV Shows) as a Favorite?

Yes, but you may need to perform a library rescan after removing the favorite.

If this isn't working for you please let us know.

I have a folder on my NAS Called Video.

Inside the Video folder I have 2 folders Called: Movies, and Television.

I Add both of those folders as Favorites.

When I remove Television as a Favorite it doesn't show up in Library to rescan & the Library TV Shows says: "There are no items to playback

If I Add Television as a Favorite it shows up in Library to scan & I can Add TV Shows as Favorite it will work, but then I have 2 Favorites: Television & TV Shows & it looks cluttered.

Any thoughts?

I couldn't agree with Phixtit more; I have same problem.
I hope Firecore will add the function to hide unnecessary TV Shows as another Favorite.

Hey Guys,

Amazing update! I'm loving the new media jukebox functionality and have just one suggestion... how about an easier way to re-classify the genre(s) in which a movie belongs without having to create an entirely new XML file in the local folder named the same as the movie file?

I only mention this because it's a little funny to find Disney's "The Little Mermaid" classified in with "Science Fiction" and would love to be able to shift the genres for these kinds of classifications into something that makes more sense for me like "Family" or (or maybe be able to just remove it from "Science Fiction")!

Thanks again for all the great work! Kudos!

- Naggeneen

I agree :) bambi is also under sci-fi :)

We're currently using TheMovieDB's tags for genres. For the most part these are pretty good, but not quite perfect.

The good news is TheMovieDB is a user populated site, so if you see something that's obviously out of place (E.G. Bambi is not Star Wars) you can jump on their site and improve the metadata for all.

James

I have changed bambi but it is still under sci fi on Apple tv ?

Hate to tell you but it still is tagged with Science Fiction. So unless the change didnt stick there is some idiot going and changing it back. Crowd sourced info is great, but not in circiumstances like this.

Yeah i noticed :( i think it is the system that does it, not by a user :(

TheMovieDB has a cache in place, so changes made on the website will not immediately be made available to applications such as aTV Flash (black).

I can't say exactly how often this cache is refreshed, but you may try reloading metadata (http://support.firecore.com/entries/20557283) for that file in a day or two.

Great update. Thank you for that!

However, I have a question: Since the update my files are renamed in a format recognized as the metadata.

Example 1: The movie "ID: A" Metadata is recognized as "The Bourne Identity" and as soon as I classify my folders MOVIE folder as the movie will be in the list view then simply renamed. If I purely see a few weeks later in this folder, it said that "Bourne Identity," but I do not remember the correct title of the film ("ID: A").

Example 2 series will also be changed to the ListView. I have a folder in which several episodes of various series are included (Lost S02E04, Eureka S04 E05, Boardwalk Empire-S02 E10 ... etc).
I classify this folder as a TV show, he is receiving the correct metadata, but again, the files will be renamed to "Episode 4, Episode 5, Episode 10 .. I know it no longer belongs to which series this episode because they just renamed is in the list view. This was previously not the case.
If this is a desired process, which is by many so intended, it would be great if in the options on the media player, this function can be turned off, so still the correct metadata are received, but the files are not renamed.

In the current state I am forced to create a separate folder for each series and the files then move accordingly. But if a folder is a single file, it is after all no more pure in this folder, as is represented in each file of the folder as a media file. Thus this is again affected by renaming the metadata.
Moreover, I can delete the file in the folder, since I then delete the folder, even though I still want to keep.

I know it may sound a little weird, but it's not all easy to explain. My English is not so good, but I still hope for an answer that helps me.

Many thanks for that!

I agree with this issue. It is very frustrating when metadata replaces the file name for tv shows. I prefer the list view for tv shows and my list seem much easier to find the show I want to watch by browsing through file names. Can this be fixed with a setting in Media Player ASAP?

I posted this but its now fallen to page 2 and I have failed to find a solution on my own... I have my TV folder now properly defined as TV, and series inside that, with the seasons for each series inside those. the Library view is showing nearly all but not *all* the series I have inside the TV folder. For some reason there are three which will not show. Is there a limitation on the number of series the Library will see? Or is there something else I might follow up on to sort this issue out. I absolutely LOVE the new format, and it really makes Plex redundant for me, except for this particular problem.

Please advise on the missing series issue, and thanks in advance.
