Seas0nPass Updated for AppleTV 4.4
Seas0nPass has been updated to support a TETHERED jailbreak of the new AppleTV 4.4 (iOS 5) software released on 10/12 (also supported are the new minor updates - 4.4.1 released on 10/17, 4.4.2 released on 10/24, 4.4.3 released on 11/17, and 4.4.4 released on 12/16). Full details on what's new in 4.4, status of 3rd party features, and how to update are below.
Should I update?
Currently the jailbreak for 4.4+ is tethered, which is a bit less convenient than an untethered version. If the features added in 4.4 excite you it may be worth updating; however, the previous 4.3 version will continue to be supported so updating is not required.

Apple has also added support for subtitles in Netflix and three new slideshow themes: Photo Wall, Flip-up, and Shifting Tiles.

How do I update?
Seas0nPass will default to the latest untethered version, which is currently 4.3. If you want to use Seas0nPass to update and jailbreak a newer version simply follow the steps below.
- Download version 4.4.4 (9A406a) and save the IPSW in an easy to find location.
- Download the latest version of Seas0nPass.
- Open Seas0nPass and Option + click (Mac) or Shift + click (PC) the Create IPSW button and select the new IPSW file that was downloaded in step #1.
- Seas0nPass will complete the jailbreak and restore process automatically.
- After the restore is complete, move the AppleTV to your TV and follow the steps for performing a Tethered Boot.

Update: It seems Apple has taken down the 4.4.1 AppleTV update due a number of reported issues. For now 4.4 is the recommended version for those wishing to update.
Update 2: The 4.4.1 version has been re-released.

I have tried and tried and tried, I absolutely can not down load the 4.4.4 firmware to jailbreak my atv2, It is running 4.4.4 but it came that way, When I try to just let seas0n pass do it it just sits there and never downloads it, If I try to download the firmware the website http://appldnld.apple.com/AppleTV/041-3539.20111215.EQTW8/AppleTV2,1_4.4.4_9A406a_Restore.ipsw never loads.... any ideas of how I can get the ispw file so I can jailbreak my atv2?

i am having major issues! I have recently bought 16 of these atv2s I keep getting error message 3194 when i try to jb using seas0n pass. How do i get by this or should i send them all back to apple?

I have a apple tv 2 and I'm trying to jailbreak it. I'm using a pc running with vista xp. I downloaded itunes with no problem and I downloaded seas0npass but when I go to open the seas0npass to run it, absolutely nothing happens. I've tried opening it with itunes open and closed. Can someone please help because I'm very eager to jb my atv2?

Hi,
I have tried all ways as described below but I can't get my Apple TV2 to enter DFU mode.
I've tried to restart the computer, restart Seas0nPass with and without iTunes on. Connected the USB power cable and then remove it and tried again. I think I have tried all ways.
I bought it like 3 weeks ago. So it is fairly new. Could it be the problem?
When I plug it in to the computer it flashes from the start without the power cable. But when I press the Menu and Playbuttons, nothing happens.
However, if I put the power cable for a little while with the USB cable still in the computer, removes power cable and try again by pressing Menu and Play in 7sec then the light will flash very fast. But as soon as I let go of the buttons it goes back to short slowly flashes and it is still not going to DFU mode.
I've also tried to insert the USB, then the power cable and hold the Menu and the down arrow, the light will flash fast, I've removed the power cable and then tried the Menu and Play, but nothing happens again.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I have a new Macbook Pro with 8GB RAM and I've updated the firmeware on the Apple TV2 to 4.4.4.

I found the problem. I borrowed a different USB cable that was longer and then it worked perfectly. What I noticed was that when I plugged it in to the computer it didn't come up in iTunes. The cable was a 45cm Cabel Westen Digital.

Hi,
I have performed the procedure and everything seems to work fine until iTunes is verifying the restore and I get Error (14).
I get the same error when trying to do a regular restore to reset the apple tv.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Im running seasonpass on a mac attempting 4.4.4 tethered.itunes 10.5.3 (3) I have only the USB cable plugged in. I cannot get it into to DFU mode. Itunes will be open and it refreshes the Apple tv2 but Seas0npass is still waiting for DFU mode?
Is there something im missing? Ive jailbroken every iphone since birth, also jailbroke the 1st gen apple tv. Dont know what is going on here.

You need to plug in your apple tv until it asks you to press and hold the buttons. Once you get to this step then unplug it and try holding the buttons for 7 seconds. It should work for you.

Am i missing something here? I jailbroke my atv 2, installed Plex, XBMC, and Nito TV. it is the most garbage collected in one place ever. On a 16 mbps wired connection, about 90% of the vids dont play. If they do, it's the crappiest quality, if you're lucky enough for it to be seen at all.
Nitotv is worthless. Not one video from plex plays.
It is actually laughable that anyone considers this a benefit to Apple TV. yea, let's watch a movie of some kid in a theater, barely able to see, coughing, talking and enjoy it!
Must be 12 yr olds who just think it's cool to modify something. I'll restore back to normal. I'd actually rather pay a couple bucks for great quality than click through a bunch of broken links, watch half of the movie, out of sync, find the other half an hour later and watch that in the worst quality possible.
If you are thinking about jailbreaking your atv, TRUST ME, it is a horrible move. There is NO benefit. Yes, you can install 3rd party apps, but that's the problem, they're 3rd party. They are worthless and not working. Just leave it - believe me, you will want back the time you invest.

Hi, i just bought an ATV2 and it came with Software 4.4.3 (3323). Then i just downloaded and installed itunes (haven´t any account nor apple id. does this matter?) and got seas0npass and an orginal firmware file with version 4.3 (i want to try this for plex).
I startet seas0npass and did a shift-Click on Create-IPSW and gave him the AppleTV2,1_4.3_8F455_Restore.ipsw file .... he does as been told and created the custom firmware and after i got the ATV in DFU mode, itunes tried to install the CF. But i always get the error 3194.
Yes, my hosts file is fine. No entry facing an apple server.
I tried to reboot and tried another windows client. No success.
Is there an error with apple signing this CF?
Can anyone help?

Same issue here. I CAN jailbreak to 4.4.4 but it won't work for my attempt with 4.3.
Seems that one of my TVs worked fine with 4.3 but not with 4.4.4. My HD movies will not play in 4.4.4 but did in 4.3 so I am trying to downgrade.
Any help is much appreciated.

Have jailbroken Apple TV 2 but for some reason images/logo (Movie Thumbs, NitoTV Logo and Apple Logo) above menu is blank now. Anyone know how to fix please?

I need help! I`m on the verge of smashing this thing! I`ve completed this thing step by step over 10 times and Apple TV (No FC) keeps appearing (thus not jailbroken). I get no errors so I have no idea what`s going wrong!

So, after much ado, I finally got this working on my MacBook. Here's the secret:
Follow the directions exactly EXCEPT when the prompt to enter DFU mode shows up. Then, plug in the USB to you computer, followed by connecting the power. DO NOT use the remote yet!! Instead, once the light on the Apple TV starts to rapidly blink, UNPLUG your power cable! This is ESSENTIAL!
With the power cable unplugged & the USB still attached, use the remote as instructed to enter DFU mode. Everything should work as planned from here on out.
In the event of an error, briefly unplug the USB from the computer, and do a standard restore via iTunes before attempting the jailbreak again.

I also was able to successfully jailbreak my atv2 following the instructions posted on Sun Jan 08, 2012 1:05 pm by anonymous. I would like to add that you have to make sure no other USB devices are connected, I had an external HD and it was conflicting with my atv2. Once I removed the ext. HD, I got it working. It did not work for me. ATV wants me to log in to iDisk. I don't use iDisk. I get error "iTunes restore script failed, selecting IPSW in Finder... How can i over come this? Thanks.

WOW!!!!!! AI would have never tried this if I hadn't exhausted all other things to try. I tried it 3 differnt cables, reinstalled itunes, rebooted, tried it on my macbook pro, vaio, asus and low and behold what this WORKED!!!! THNAK-YOU wish I would have found and tried this 5 hrs ago!

I have problems !! I keep getting this message :
org.xbmc.xbmc-atv2 is already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 10 not upgraded.
I have tired over several hours to get it to resolve but I really don't have a clue.
Is there a simple fix or do I have to uninstall XBMC and then reinstall it??

What actually worked for me was just restarting my computer,I tried everything posted in this forum nothing was working, finally decided to just restart my computer and it worked perfectly fine!

Why do I have to update to 4.4.4 (is this thethered) when my box is running 4.3 out of the box... I keep getting the error 1600, 1604, 3194 when the software updates on the box. Tried 3 computers now lol.

i have problem restoring the generated AppleTV2,1_4.4.4_9A406a_SP_Restore.ipsw with iTunes 10.5.2.11 (latest). It says an unknown error occured (3194). I've tried many times, but still the same error.
Anyone have idea to resolve this? I was able to restore my aTV2 to factory setting and at the same time updated using iTunes. Then, I tried running Seas0nPass again to generate the new custom IPSW. Error 3194 still deter me from Custom Restore (shift+Restore).
Help appreciated.

My fix was to just to install iTunes on my Win7 machine and it went off without a hitch. Was previously trying on XP but it would not budge. Not sure if it was that it had to install the new drivers or whatever, but it worked.

This guy Raj above got it right! I used his site and he got me 99% JB. There seems to be this 1% hit or miss in getting the ATV 2 in DFU mode. For me I rebooted, changed usb ports & let usb drivers install, rebooted again, plugged in the USB & the power.Used the remote to enter DFU mode. I left the power plugged into the AVT well into the restore process & unplugged it while it was being verified. I still got the error 1600... I didn't care anymore after 12 trys I thought I would try it. It works great. Since then I used Raj's site to install the good stuff.
